At Camarillo Tutoring, your student will work with all of our wonderful instructors and interns!
Kyle Matayoshi
I’m sure many of you are familiar with Kyle by now, but for those new enrollments, allow me to introduce him again. Kyle has been our Head Instructor for several years now and plays a huge role in our day to day operation at the center. Besides making sure that the classrooms are running smoothly, he is also responsible in the organization of our appointment board to make sure all make ups, cancellations, schedule changes, and session increases and decreases are addressed in a timely manner. He also overviews all student programs while making sure that our database is always updated. Oh and by the way, Kyle is also our “Math Whiz”. He is blessed with the talent of explaining even the most complex math problem to just about anybody at all grade levels!
Kyle graduated from Camarillo High school with a 5 on the AP Calculus Test. Besides computers and gaming, he is passionate about Kendo, a modern Japanese Martial Arts.
He was attending Moorpark College with one goal in mind: To become a Math Professor with a masters in Math and also a PhD in the same area. In pursuit of this goal, Kyle has enlisted and is waiting for an available job to serve in the Air Force. We are grateful for the effort, skills, and work Kyle has invested into Camarillo Tutoring over the last 5 years to help our business run more smoothly and more flexibility.
While we at Camarillo Tutoring will severly miss our Head Instructor, we are grateful for his sacrifice and service to this country and know the Air Force will be recruiting a very analytical and dedicated officer!
Kaitlyn “Katie” Wagman
Katie is one of our instructors that most likely worked with our veteran students numerous times. And while this Camarillo High School Valedictorian is now located in Westwood to pursue a degree in the area of Political Sciences, she has promised us, and kept the promise over Christmas, that she will continue to assist our students whenever she is in town. During her breaks from LA, she will make herself available not just for her family here in Camarillo, but for her students here at the center. To this day, Katie will still check in on some of our veteran female students to continue mentoring and being a role model in their lives.
With all of these on her plate, Katie maintains a laser sharp focus on her goal of becoming an analyst for government policies at the local or federal level. She wants to work for non profit sectors and activist groups to push legislation that she is passionate about.
Yep, one day, we will see Katie fight for what is right for people. Her overwhelming passion for mentoring her students is already an indication of this. We joke around about the possibility of her becoming our future president. Long shot? Not with Katie. Anything is possible with her.
Jill McCrory
Jill started working part-time at Camarillo Tutoring Center about 3-4 years ago. While she loved teaching in the classroom, she wanted to work more one-on-one with students in a smaller environment.
She recently retired from teaching after spending 30 years in Camarillo, starting her teaching career at Bedford Open School, which became Los Senderos School. When the opportunity arose to help establish a progressive charter school, our local CAPE, Jill jumped at the chance to build a high caliber, progressive school focused on meeting the needs of all students academically and socially.
In 2016, Jill received the high honor of Camarillo Educator of the Year from the Camarillo Noontime Optimists.
When working with students, we affect their lives. From what Jill has seen in 30 years and as any other teacher/tutor will tell you, this realization is repeatedly brought home by returning students who have told us what an impact we have had, in one way or another. Students are always watching, so it is imperative that people who help students maintain their truthfulness, integrity, and kindness. The people who work at Camarillo Tutoring Center are positive role models who truly care about every student they work with.
If Jill had to give two attributes a successful tutor/teacher needs, the first would be to listen. Students need to know that we care, and we do that by listening. A successful tutor/teacher also needs to ask questions. They need to spark children’s curiosity and then provide them the opportunity to find the answers rather than feed those answers to them.
All students can succeed if given an environment where they feel supported, challenged, and encouraged. Camarillo Tutoring Center provides that atmosphere with motivated and caring tutors.
Caleb Myers
The instructor that took to the classroom by storm is Caleb, who graduated GCU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Counseling. This area of sciences is probably the most important quality to have when it comes to mentoring our students, and Caleb truly exemplifies that tutor with such caliber. You can see the passion in his interactions with the students we have here to help your children grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well! His scholastic accomplishments include passing these tests: AP BC Calculus, International Baccalaureate English for Higher Learning, and International Baccalaureate History of Americas.
His goal after college completion is to become a high school English and Psychology teacher. However, he also has a calling for the Arts and wants to pursue Theater eventually.
Some of his notable accomplishments are:
- Emotional Behavioral Social Support for High Risk Students from Alhambra High School in Phoenix Arizona
- Academic and Career Excellence Leader/Tutor for College students in Statistics
- Small group leader at High Tide Youth Group
- Multimedia Volunteer and Trainer for Gold Coast Christian Church
Since the 2021-2022 school year started, Caleb took up the mantle of head of social media and it continues to thrive under his watch almost as well as when Katie ran our Facebook page. He hopes as time continues, our online profile will grow into a community with the invovlement of our families here at Camarillo Tutoring with Parent Testimonials and Student Interviews!
Simply put… Caleb is a natural mentor, teacher, and a leader who possesses the ability to connect with students of all ages and grade levels!
Parker Gravel
Our newest intern to join our elite team is Parker Gravel! With friendliness and humility, the confidence Parker displays in the classroom is pivotal to helping our students. He is a natural mentor and encourages students to strive to do their best in all aspects of life. Parker is going to be attending the University of California Berkeley starting in 2023, and he will be majoring in Chemical Biology.
Kayla Matzek
Here is our brag sheet for Ms. Kayla Matzek! She graduated from UCSB with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing and Literature. While at UCSB, she was Community Service Chair and IT Coordinator of UCSB’s National Society of Leaders and Success Chapter from 2018 to 2019. Then the next year she became their Vice President and Community Service Chair for the 2019-2020 school year. She was also awarded the National Society of Leadership and Success Advanced Leadership Certification during her time there as well.
As stated previously is a full-time graduate student at CSUCI working on completing her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential which will allow her to teach elementary and middle school students!
She also has a gauntlet of experiences from some of the hardest customer service jobs in the business from working as a hotel guest manager, customer support services at retail stores, and being one of the most gracious hostesses for restaurants.
With this versatile background, I have full faith Kayla will be able to fit in where ever we need her!
